Pure Taco To Bring Globally-Inspired Tacos To Carlsbad Village

The co-founders of Casero Taqueria and Urban Plates are teaming up to launch Pure Taco, a globally inspired American taqueria set to open in Carlsbad Village later this summer.

From Casero Taqueria's Clayton Wheeler and Craig Applegate and Urban Plates co-founder John Zagara, Pure Taco is currently in the new State Street Commons installing across the street from Campfire restaurant in San Diego's North County city of Carlsbad. Expected to open in late July 2021, the fast-casual, modern American taqueria will offer globally flavored menu featuring eclectic tacos made with hand-pressed tortillas, as well as a full bar with specialty margaritas and local beers on tap. 

The menu at Pure Taco will feature some traditional tacos like those made with chili-rubbed pastor, grilled steak and fish, but most offerings will be unique combinations that draw inspiration from global flavors, including Pho Beef Tacos, Korean Pork Bo Ssam Tacos and Ahi Poke nachos.

Pure Taco will open this summer at 2742 State Street in Carlsbad and share the building will fellow tenants Warner Bros. Games, Lofty Coffee, Pacific Sotheby’s, and Nick's on State. For more information, visit mypuretaco.com.
