More than three years in the making, San Diego's hippest hospitality group Consortium Holdings (Morning Glory, Born & Raised) is nearly ready to unveil Seneca's Caffe Bar Trattoria, a Roman-style bar & restaurant opening on the 19th floor rooftop of InterContinental Hotel on July 27.
It was in April 2018 that we first broke the news of Consortium Holding's incoming 19th story rooftop bar & restaurant coming to downtown San Diego's bayfront InterContinental Hotel. Three years and a pandemic later, CH is ready to grand open their 16th area concept.
Seneca's Caffe Bar Trattoria will open for dinner service on Tuesday, July 27, offering an Italian menu from CH Corporate Chef Jason McLeod and Seneca Executive Chef Russell Rummer, who previously worked at Bay Area Neapolitan pizza hotspot Pizzeria Delfina. Expect a seasonal menu featuring Italian small plates, fresh made pasta, hand stretched Neapolitan pizza, and entrees cooked on a wood-burning stove from the restaurant's open kitchen. There will also be tableside services like mozzarella hand-formed to order, as well as cheese and dessert carts. The 19th floor space has been beautifully designed with a nautical theme and will offer indoor and outdoor seating overlooking San Diego's downtown bayfront. Like other CH spots, expect a focus on craft cocktails, as well as curated local beer selections and a concise wine list.
San Diego native Arsalun Tafazoli began what is now Consortium Holdings hospitality company in 2007 with the opening of Neighborhood in San Diego's East Village. Consortium Holdings (also known as CH Projects) now has over a dozen concepts around San Diego, including cocktail-focused Polite Provisions, classy dive bar El Dorado, neighborhood bar & restaurant Craft & Commerce with adjacent tiki-speakeasy False Idol, two locations of its Japanese fusion restaurant Underbelly, modern barbershop Dover Honing Co., seafood-centric Ironside Fish & Oyster, bi-level steakhouse Born & Raised, Westfield UTC bottle shop and speakeasy Raised By Wolves, brunch-centered Morning Glory, Chinese restaurant
Fortunate Son, and industry-focused East Village sandwich shop and Negroni bar
J & Tony's Discount Cured Meats and Negroni Warehouse with neighboring coffee shop
Invigatorium in partnership with San Diego's Modern Times Beer. Earlier this year, Consortium Holdings
purchased North Park's 75-year-old The Lafayette Hotel, Swim Club & Bungalows for more than $25 million.

The ever-expanding restaurant group also has several additional concepts in the works, including a members-only social house The Reading Club opening next door to Seneca restaurant. There is also a new concept
in the works for North Park and Consortium Holdings co-founder Arsalun Tafazoli has
purchased the shopping plaza at 3401 Adams Avenue in Normal Heights, which sits across the street from Blind Lady AleHouse and approximately a half mile from CH's Polite Provisions. There is no word yet on what is planned for that space. Arsalun also
took over ownership of Bar Pink in North Park last year and plans to convert the space to become a new cocktail bar dubbed Part Time Lover.
Seneca Trattoria will be located inside InterContinental Hotel at 901 Bayfront Court in downtown San Diego. Reservations are currently
available online via OpenTable. Check out Seneca's launch menu below.
