Los Angeles-Based Salad Chain Sweetgreen Already Planning Second San Diego Location

March 8, 2022

Fresh off the opening of the company's first San Diego location just last month, Los Angeles-based fast-casual salad restaurant chain Sweetgreen is already planning a second branch in America's Finest City.

The original Sweetgreen restaurant was founded in Washington DC in 2007 by founders Nicolas Jammet, Nathaniel Ru and Jonathan Newman, who all had just graduated from Georgetown University business school a few months earlier. Now headquartered in Culver City, CA, Sweetgreen has more than 150 locations around the country, including a brand new San Diego restaurant that opened last month in a 2,500 square-foot space within the 123,000 square-foot Beacon La Costa shopping center in Carlsbad, formerly La Costa Towne Center.

The second San Diego Sweetgreen location will open in a 2,400-square-foot space within Del Mar Highlands Town Center. Like other branches, expect a seasonally-changing menu with a variety of salads, warm bowls, sides, and shareable plates.

The second San Diego Sweetgreen aims to open by year's end at 12853 El Camino Real, Suite P11, in San the North County community of Del Mar. For more information, visit sweetgreen.com.
