South of Nick's Mexican Kitchen + Bar To Replace International Smoke Within One Paseo Del Mar

April 24, 2022

An offshoot of neighboring Nick's Del Mar, South of Nick's Mexican Kitchen + Bar will soon replace celebrity-driven International Smoke within One Paseo.

The founder of Claim Jumper restaurants Nick Nickoloff opened the first location of his namesake Nick's Restaurant in Laguna Beach in 2008, and he now has additional outposts in San Clemente, Long Beach, Manhattan Beach, Pasadena, Del Mar, and another branch opening in Carlsbad. Nick's restaurants feature a classic American comfort food menu and a California-style open-air decor. In 2019, the first San Diego location of Nick's installed within the brand new One Paseo retail compound in Del Mar. Many point to Nick's popularity as a reason for the closure of International Smoke, the Chef Michael Mina and Ayesha Curry's barbecue restaurant that shuttered earlier this year.

Nick's ownership is now doubling down in One Paseo and launching the third outpost of its more casual South of Nick's Mexican Kitchen + Bar in the 6,200-square-foot former International Smoke restaurant space. Expect a menu of Mexican favorites, prime steaks and seafood with a So Cal twist, as well as a full bar with sipping tequilas, margaritas, cocktails, beer and wine.

South of Nick's Mexican Kitchen + Bar is anticipated to open this summer at 2287 Del Mar Heights Road, Unit 1, in San Diego's Del Mar/Carmel Valley area. For more information, visit nicksrestaurants.com.
