San Diego's Social Syndicate hospitality group has temporarily closed its Wonderland Ocean Pub in Ocean Beach and the restaurant will undergo a substantial remodel before reopening later this spring.
Social Syndicate opened Wonderland Ocean Pub in 2013 at the second story, former Nick's at the Pier space in San Diego's Ocean Beach neighborhood. Since then, they've pretty much taken over the entire oceanfront plaza with the openings of OB Surf Lodge in the previous Shade's Bistro space in 2017 followed by the launch of Blue Water Seafood in early 2019. Yesterday, Wonderland was closed for renovations of the space that will include updated flooring and other kitchen-related refreshers. The company will eventually do a more substantial renovation of the Wonderland unit in coming years.The partners behind Social Syndicate - Mina Desiderio, Brendan Huffman, Mark Huber, and Hoffman Leung - also have ownership interests in The Local Eatery & Drinking Hole, Rosie O'Grady's, Bootlegger, The Local Pacific Beach, The Rabbit Hole, Resident Brewing, Bayside Landing, Grand Ole BBQ, Monarch Ocean Pub, and La Dona OB Cantina.
