San Diego's Decades-Old Valley Farm Market Set To Open Restaurant & Lodge In East County

June 4, 2022

San Diego's more than 60-year-old Valley Farm Market is ready to open a country-style restaurant and lodge in East County.

Founded in the San Diego East County community of Spring Valley in 1956 by Felix and Eleanor Marso, Valley Farm Market has been operated by the founders' four children over the years and is now managed by grandson, Derek Marso. In addition to a commitment to sourcing only the finest food items, Valley Farms has come to be known for hosting frequent community events and supporting area charities and youth sports teams. In fall 2019, Valley Farms opened a 5,000 square-foot outpost in La Jolla within a newly-built mixed-use complex near Windansea beach.

Valley Farm Market has announced the opening date of The Outpost by Valley Farm, a country-style lodge with an onsite restaurant located at the former site of Blue Jay Lodge, which was established in 1926 on Sunrise Highway within Cleveland National Forrest in Mount Laguna. The Outpost will have a barbecue-focused restaurant, a full bar, a grocery and will also have five log cabins available for rent starting later this summer. The business will also produce slow-smoked jerky using American wagyu beef from Snake River Farms and is possibly launching an onsite brewery in the near future.

The Valley Farm Outpost restaurant opens on Friday, June 10, at 10600 Sunrise Highway in Mt Laguna, CA. For more information, visit theoutpostvfm.com and check out the restaurant's menu and photos below.
