Trust Restaurant Group Unveils First Restaurant Sited Outside San Diego County

July 8, 2022

San Diego's ever-expanding Trust Restaurant Group will unveil the third location of its Rare Society steakhouse concept next week in Santa Barbara, which marks the company's first restaurant sited outside of San Diego County.

Trust Restaurant Group started in early 2016 with the opening of Trust Restaurant within design guru Jonathan Segal's Mr. Robinson Building on the outskirts of Hillcrest. The expanding hospitality company was founded by alums of San Diego-based Eat.Drink.Sleep (JRDN, Decoy Dockside Dining), including Co-Owner/Chef Brad Wise, former GM/Managing Partner Steve Schwob, and Pastry Chef Jeremy Harville. In January 2019, the team (with financial backing by local real estate developer and co-owner of San Diego Legion rugby team Ryan Patterson) unveiled Fort Oak within developer Jonathan Segal's The Fort mixed-use building in Mission Hills. In January 2020, Trust Group opened all-day restaurant, bakery and marketplace Cardellino within the space previously occupied by Brooklyn Girl Eatery in Mission Hills. The company also owns two locations of The Wise Ox Butcher & Eatery

In November 2019, Trust Group unveiled Rare Society in San Diego's uptown area. This modern take on the classic American steakhouse also has a location in Solana Beach that opened in fall 2021. As part of the company's plans for a nationwide expansion, the third branch of Rare Society will open next week on Lower State Street in the heart of Santa Barbara, CA. Like the other two Rare Society restaurants, the new Santa Barbara location will offer a Mad Men-style vibe and a lengthy menu of wood-fired steakhouse favorites ranging from appetizers to pastas to seafood and dry-aged steaks. The restaurant will also have a full bar with classic cocktails, nightcaps, draft beer and an expansive wine list.

Rare Society will open on Wednesday, July 13 at 214 State Street in Santa Barbara, CA. For more information, visit raresociety.com.
