Societe Brewing Ready To Open First Satellite Tasting Room In San Diego's Old Town

August 18, 2022

San Diego's 10 year-old Societe Brewing Company is nearly ready to unveil its first satellite tasting room.

Societe Brewing Company was founded in May 2012 by University of Arizona alumni Doug Constantiner and brewmaster Travis Smith, who both met while working at Orange County's The Bruery. Societe has been honored numerous times over its decade-long tenure, including winning gold medals at both the 2018 World Beer Cup and the 2018 Great American Beer Festival.

In 2019, Societe announced the departure of founding brewer Travis Smith and appointed Teddy Gowan as lead brewer. Gowan had previously trained under Smith for several years and has well over a decade of professional brewing experience, including working at San Diego's Hangar 24 Craft Brewery, as well as Lake Placid Pub & Brewery. Gowan also is a graduate of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling.

After two years of production growth and expanded distribution of its line of canned craft beers, Societe is ready to unveil the company's first tasting room within a 2,686 square-foot space near the Old Town Chamber of Commerce. Societe has renovated the unit to add beer bar with multiple taps and an onsite retail component selling beer to-go and branded merchandise. There is a possibility that Societe adds its own onsite kitchen to the new tasting room in the near future.

Societe Brewing's new tasting room is anticipated to open on Monday, August 22, at 2415 San Diego Avenue, Suite 106, in San Diego's Old Town neighborhood. For more information, visit societebrewing.com.
