Chicago's Instagrammable Technology-Based WNDR Art Museum To Grand Open San Diego Location This January

December 18, 2022

Chicago's immersive, technology-based art museum WNDR (pronounced "wonder") will open a 15,000-square-foot location in downtown San Diego this January 2023.

Founded in 2018, WNDR’s flagship location in Chicago has over 35 installations by iconic artists, as well as captivating pieces by its own collective of makers at WNDR Studios. Expect things like floating metallic spheres, light-up floors, and rooms filled with neon pinks, purples, and greens, all designed as the perfect photo ops to fill the social media feed. In its 4 year tenure, WNDR has been featured in numerous publications including the Washington Post, USA Today, Hypebeast and was named a Top 5 Immersive Experience in the United States.

The new San Diego location will be WNDR’s second-ever location, part of a nationwide expansion from its flagship Chicago location. Located at the historic The Broker's Building on Market Street in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, expect more than 20 immersive and multi-sensory experiences that blend technology and art, as well as an onsite cafe & full bar with beer, wine and cocktails. There is a strong likelihood the museum will eventually host its popular WNDR After Dark series, featuring DJs and live music along with local vendors. WNDR San Diego will also feature a VR installation where each door is a portal to a virtual interpretation of previous works.

"San Diego is home to a dynamic, inclusive art scene and we’re thrilled to provide a new unique environment to showcase both internationally-acclaimed artists and incredible local talent," said Ryan Kunkel, President of WNDR Global. "We’re honored to join the ranks of San Diego’s world-class cultural institutions and we look forward to becoming a lasting contributor to the community."

WNDR will grand open on January 11, 2023 at 422 Market Street in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit wndrmuseum.com.
