A new San Diego location of sister concepts Pop Pie Co. and Stella Jean's Ice Cream is opening in Pacific Beach.
Founded in San Diego's University Heights in 2016 by co-owners Steven Torres and Executive Chef Gan Suebsarakham, Pop Pie Co. quickly became a popular dining destination due to its ever-changing assortment of globally-inspired savory and sweet single-serving pies made with a signature all-butter crust. Torres and Suebsarakham also own and operate Stella Jean's Ice Cream - a small-batch ice cream parlor sited next door to their pot-pie eatery in University Heights.

In 2019, the second Pop Pie Co./Stella Jeans opened in Costa Mesa in Orange County, CA. Last year, Pop Pie Co. and Stella Jean's Ice Cream launched a new outpost next to Cesarina on Voltaire Street on the outskirts of Point Loma and Ocean Beach. The third area locations of Pop Pie Co. and Stella Jean's Ice Cream will open in San Diego's South Park neighborhood, moving into a 1,600 square-foot space that last housed part of South Park Brewing.
Another San Diego branch of Pop Pie Co. & Stella Jean's Ice Cream will open in the 1,100 square-foot building on Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach that last housed an outpost of Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. The new location will help the joint concepts further ramp up take-out and delivery in the beach areas. Like other branches, expect a menu featuring a selection of savory pies five inches in diameter and sweet pies served as hand pies, by the slice, and as full 9" pies, as well as a menu of house made ice cream, coffee and other refreshments.
Pop Pie Co. founders recently established a hospitality company Sweet & Savory Collective and secured a space in Mission Valley for the company's corporate home base. The company plans to continue expanding around San Diego and Southern California, including opening a location in North Park and an ice cream parlor in Carlsbad.
The new Pop Pie Co. and Stella Jean's Ice Cream is anticipated to open by late February at 829 Garnet Avenue in San Diego's Pacific Beach. For more information, visit poppieco.com and stellajeans.com.
