Juniper & Ivy Alums To Bring Finca Tapas Restaurant To San Diego's North Park

January 16, 2023

A pair of Juniper & Ivy alums are bringing a new Spanish-meets-California tapas & wine bar dubbed Finca to San Diego's North Park.

From sommelier Dan Valerino and Chef Joe Bower, who operate San Diego-based Bottle Boon hospitality company (Green Acre), Finca is an incoming 90-seat Spanish-inspired tapas restaurant and retail wine bottle shop set to open on the base floor of the under-construction GrimNPW apartment building in North Park. Valerino was previously the General Manager of Juniper & Ivy in San Diego's Little Italy where he met Bower, who was working as a chef at the upscale restaurant.

Finca will offer 3,030 square-feet of dining space with an open kitchen and an elevated bar program centered around sangrias and vermouth. There will also be a retail area with a curated selection of affordable California and Spanish wines, as well as a wine club. The food menu will offer shareable plates made with Spanish influence highlighted by California ingredients. Sample dishes include surf & turf toast, hamachi crudo, and charred eggplant dip with homemade potato chips.

Finca aims to open by some point this summer at 3805 Grim Avenue in San Diego's North Park. For more information, visit bottleboon.com.
