There Is An In-N-Out Burger Ripoff Restaurant In Tijuana And Apparently It's Delicious

March 24, 2023

There is an In-N-Out Burger ripoff in Tijuana, and based upon online reviews and word of mouth, it's delicious.

A Gringo in Mexico founder W. Scott Koenig recently posted on his social media about Ench-In-Ga Burger, an evident In-N-Out copycat concept located on the outskirts of Tijuana's Zona Rio district. "En Chinga" is Spanish slang for "hurry the f*ck up", among other things. Much like In-N-Out, Ench-In-Ga Burger serves a no frills menu of hamburgers, including a Double-Double, as well as Animal fries and milkshakes. The restaurant has great online reviews and we've heard from some of our Instagram followers that the burgers are excellent.

While In-N-Out has nearly 300 branches dotted around California, there are none in Mexico. Last year, news broke of another mock In-N-Out restaurant in Mexico, this one called Not In-En-Out in Guadalupe. Restaurants like this rely on the fair use exception for parody to combat claims of copyright infringement. Simply put, so long as you're evidently making fun of a popular brand, you may be in the clear. That and jurisdictional limits to U.S. trademarks.

Ench-In-Ga Burger is located at Avenida Río Tijuana 2562, BC 22015, in the Zona Rio neighborhood of Tijuana (about a 25 minute drive from downtown San Diego).
