Los Angeles-Based Salad Chain Sweetgreen Planning Fourth San Diego Location

April 4, 2023

Extremely popular Los Angeles-based fast-casual salad restaurant chain Sweetgreen is already planning a fourth outpost for San Diego.

The original Sweetgreen restaurant was founded in Washington DC in 2007 by founders Nicolas Jammet, Nathaniel Ru and Jonathan Newman, who all had just graduated from Georgetown University business school a few months earlier. Now headquartered in Culver City, CA, Sweetgreen has more than 150 locations around the country, including a brand new San Diego restaurant that opened early last year in a 2,500 square-foot space within the 123,000 square-foot Beacon La Costa shopping center in Carlsbad, formerly La Costa Towne Center. The second San Diego Sweetgreen location will open in a 2,400-square-foot space within Del Mar Highlands Town Center with a third in the works for 4S Commons Town Center in 4S Ranch.

The fourth San Diego branch of Sweetgreen will open within Westfield UTC mall in La Jolla. Like other branches, expect a seasonally-changing menu with a variety of customizable salads, warm bowls, sides, and shareable plates.

The fourth San Diego Sweetgreen aims to open by year's end at 4575 La Jolla Village Drive, Suite 1145, in San Diego's University Town Center. For more information, visit sweetgreen.com.
