Controversial Rapper Kanye West Wants To Perform At San Diego's Petco Park

February 6, 2024

Controversial rapper Kanye West posted a text thread on his Instagram where he indicates a desire to perform live at downtown San Diego's Petco Park.

Today Kanye West posted a screenshot of a text thread between himself and fellow rapper Freddie Gibbs, where Gibbs says that someone asked him if Kanye wanted to do a concert at "Petco Stadium in San Diego". Kanye's response was "Yes I do [,] Who do I speak to?" The full screenshot is included below.
News broke today that Kanye "Ye" West was possibly planning a huge world tour for 2024-2025. The news came to light following West's statement saying he was having difficulty booking concert arenas, comparing his situation to that of deceased rock n' roll legend Elvis Presley.

"I have not been allowed to perform in a year," he posted in all caps. "Feels like the Elvis Presley movie."

On Tuesday night, Ye took to social media to suggest that venues won't book him to perform likely due to  anti-Semitic statements he's made in recent years and other controversies. West's last live performance was at the Kia Center in Orlando, FL, on January 31, 2024. Prior to that he had not performed since February 2022 in Miami during a launch event for his album "Donda 2."

"We just sold out the United Center in seven minutes," Ye explained in a quickly deleted Instagram Stories video, adding that he is seeking assistance from anyone in order to book more venues.

Only time will tell if Kanye books a concert at downtown San Diego's Petco Park.
