Hello Betty Fish House Ends Decade-Long Run In San Diego's North County

June 2, 2024

After 10 years in business, Hello Betty Fish House has closed in San Diego's North County city of Oceanside.

Located in the heart of historic Oceanside, Hello Betty Fish House offered a casual contemporary dining option to the beach community. With a reverence for authentic surf culture, Hello Betty was a unique concept created in early 2014 by restaurateur Peter Karpinski, co-Founder & COO of Denver-based Sage Restaurant Group. In their first Southern California venture, the group created Hello Betty to provide a visual homage to the local flavor of a town deeply rooted in history - from thrill-seeking surfers to the rugged fishermen that have worked nearby for decades.

"It's been quite the ride," read an announcement on Hello Betty's social media. "To our loyal guests, we announce the closure of Hello Betty Oceanside with mixed emotions. We’ve had an incredible 10 years serving the Oceanside community, and for that, we thank you all."

Sage Restaurant Group is no longer involved with the property's onsite hotel, SpringHill Suites San Diego Oceanside, where Hello Betty's is located. New ownership Oram Holdings will renovate the space and soon unveil a new, yet-to-be revealed dining concept in the prime space at 211 Mission Avenue near the Oceanside Pier.

Oram Hotels is a family-owned hotel management company operated by Alvin and Kevin Mansour. The company also owns and operates The Guild Hotel in Downtown San Diego and the incoming Granger Hotel Gaslamp Quarter. For The Guild Hotel, Oram partnered with San Diego's Be Saha Hospitality to manage onsite dining.

Be Saha operates such San Diego restaurants as mezcal-focused Tahona bar & restaurant in San Diego's Old Town, Hidden Craft self-serve beer bar and restaurant in downtown San Diego, Wormwood absinthe bar and French bistro in North Park/University Heights, NFT art gallery/Spanish restaurant and gin bar Botanica in North Park, and runs real estate brokerage Allied Green Realty. There is no word on whether Be Saha will be tasked with overseeing the rebranding of the longtime Hello Betty space.
