Mexico-Based Wing's Army Restaurant Opening First California Location In San Diego's Ocean Beach

An award-winning chicken wing restaurant based out of Mexico, Wing's Army will soon open its first California location in San Diego's Ocean Beach. 

Founded in Guadalajara, MX, in 2005 by Martín Santaella, Wings Army now has locations dotted all over Mexico. In 2021, the restaurant chain won first place in the BBQ sauce category at the National Buffalo Wing Festival in Buffalo, NY. In addition, Wings Army has been also been recognized by the International Taste Institute  in Brussels, Belgium, awarding the brand's Mango Habanero and Tamarindo sauces with stars of the Superior Taste Award 2021.

It appears that Wings Army is taking over the 3,736 square foot space that previously housed Ocean Beach's controversial Starbucks, which closed in late 2022. Like other branches, the menu will include chicken wings with various sauces, as well as fries, nachos, quesadillas, burgers, chicken sandwiches, ribs, and desserts. The San Diego location will also have a beer and wine license. 

Wings Army is expected to open in early 2025 at 4994 Newport Avenue in San Diego's Ocean Beach. For more information, visit wingsarmymzo.com.
