From legendary NBA star Shaquille O'Neal, Big Chicken fast-casual chicken sandwich chain will soon open its first San Diego location.
Big Chicken was founded in late 2018 by retired Hall of Fame National Basketball Association star Shaquille O'Neal, along with accomplished Las Vegas-based ownership group JRS Hospitality and multi-national, multi-billion-dollar brand development company Authentic Brands Group. The fast casual restaurant chain now has more than 30 locations sited across 18 states.
The first area branch of Big Chicken will soon install in the space that last housed a Bruegger's Bagels at the 32nd Street Naval Station in downtown San Diego. The chain serves Louisiana-style fried chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, popcorn chicken, fries, Cheez-It mac n' cheese, ice-cream shakes, and basketball-sized cookies. The menu also features signature items like the "Big Aristotle" sandwich, a nod to Shaq's nickname, and the "Uncle Jerome" sandwich, a take on Nashville hot chicken named after his close relative.
Big Chicken is anticipated to open by year's end at 2850 Robertson Road, Building 3405, in downtown San Diego. For more information, visit bigchicken.com.
