Spitz Mediterranean Street Food Returning To San Diego With New Pacific Beach Location

Los Angeles-based Mediterranean street food chain Spitz is making its return to San Diego, this time bringing its bold flavors to the heart of Pacific Beach.

The new Spitz location is set to open later this year in the 2,300-square-foot space formerly occupied by Crushed, a longtime all-day brunch favorite that closed earlier in 2025. The upcoming Pacific Beach outpost will be operated by franchisees  Chris Law, Aian Brenna-Law, Shealin Brennan-Law, and Christopher Burnthon.

Spitz is known for its unique blend of European street food, Californian freshness, and vibrant, art-filled interiors. It specializes in döner kebab - savory spit-roasted meats tucked into lavash wraps or served in bowls, sandwiches, and salads - along with falafel, zesty sauces, and fan-favorite sides like Berliner Fries and Street Cart Fries.
Founded in Los Angeles in 2005 by college friends Bryce Rademan and Robert Wicklund after discovering döner kebabs while studying abroad in Spain, Spitz has grown to over 20 locations across the U.S., blending casual dining with eclectic décor and a neighborhood vibe. The concept was designed as a healthier, fast-casual alternative to traditional Mediterranean eateries, all while retaining the heartiness and crave-worthy appeal of street food.

Spitz’s once had a branch in at 3515 Fifth Avenue in San Diego's Hillcrest, featuring a beer garden, outdoor games, and menu of hearty portions and customizable meals. While that location eventually shuttered, its departure left many fans hungry for a return. The new PB outpost aims to revive the brand’s San Diego presence with updated energy, community events, board games, and a sunny patio fit for the laid-back beach town lifestyle.
The menu includes popular items like the Street Cart Döner - available with beef & lamb, chicken, or falafel - and topped with garlic aioli, crispy lavash chips, fresh vegetables, and tzatziki. Other standouts include Döquitos (Mediterranean taquitos), the Remix Bowl with harissa and lemon herb tahini, and vegan-friendly options. In keeping with Spitz’s local-first philosophy, the new spot will offer a rotating lineup of regional craft beers, seltzers, kombucha, ciders, and more, as well as sangria and a small wine list.

Spitz is expected to open later this year at 967 Garnet Avenue in San Diego's Pacific Beach. For more information, visit spitzrestaurant.com.
