San Diego Restaurants Closures & Downgrades This Week (January 9 - 15) Due To County Health Department Inspections

This is the weekly list of San Diego County restaurants and food facilities that have faced temporary closures and downgraded status due to health inspections from January 9 - 15, 2026.

The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality performs thousands of inspections annually to ensure that food establishments adhere to necessary safety standards. When inspectors identify critical violations, they issue closure notices, mandating that businesses resolve the issues before they can reopen, as well as reduce the health grade of some establishments.

Below, we outline the recent week's closures and downgrades and the specific violation list for each as reported by the health inspectors.

CLOSURES:

Lotus Cafe and Juice Bar (765 S Coast Highway 101, Suite H-101, Encinitas, CA 92024) - Ordered closed on January 9 for Food Safety Certification - Minor; Holding Temperatures - Minor; Hot and Cold Water - Major; and Plumbing - Out of Compliance.

Finca Casa Blanca (9570 Murray Dr, La Mesa, CA 91942) - Ordered closed upon re-inspection on January 9 (originally closed on January 6) for "no violations found".

Flams Pizza (1445 3rd Ave, Suite B, Chula Vista, CA 91911) - Ordered closed on January 13 for Vermin - Major; Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance. 

Molina Brothers Catering (139 Pawnee St, San Marcos, CA 92078) - Ordered closed on January 13 for Food Safety Certification - Minor; Food Handler Training - Minor; Proper Handwashing Facilities - Major; Hot and Cold Water - Major; and Vermin - Major. 

Su Su Sushi (2420 5th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101) - Ordered closed on January 13 for Food Safety Certification - Minor; Proper Handwashing Facilities - Minor; Holding Temperatures - Minor; Food in Good Condition, Safe and Unadulterated - Major; Food Contact Surfaces - Minor; Consumer Advisory - Minor; Vermin - Major; Thawing Methods - Out of Compliance; Storage of Toxic Substances - Out of Compliance; Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance; Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use - Out of Compliance; Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

Princess Pub & Grille (1675 India St, San Diego, CA 92101) - Ordered closed on January 13 for Food Safety Certification - Minor; Holding Temperatures - Minor; Food Contact Surfaces - Minor; Vermin - Major; Warewashing Facilities Maintained - Out of Compliance; and Ventilation and Lighting - Out of Compliance.

Shared Kitchen / Amalfi Mobile Pizzeria (9932 Mesa Rim Rd, Suite A, San Diego, CA 92121) - Ordered closed on January 14 for Hot and Cold Water - Minor; Vermin - Minor; Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

Veros Kitchen (4637–4673 Market St, San Diego, CA 92102) - Ordered closed on January 14 for Equipment, Utensils, Linens Storage and Use - Out of Compliance. 

The Dole Whip Guy (4637 Market St, San Diego, CA 92102) - Ordered closed on January 14 for Hot and Cold Water - Major and Ventilation and Lighting - Out of Compliance.

Starry Lane Bakery (3925 4th Ave, San Diego CA 92103) - Ordered closed on January 15 for Vermin - Major; Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

DOWNGRADES:

Morena Blvd Market (1045 Morena Blvd, San Diego, CA 92110) - Downgraded to a B grade with an 83 score on January 13 for Food Safety Certification - Minor Food Handler Training - Minor Proper Eating, Tasting, Drinking, or Tobacco Use - Minor Handwashing - Major Food Contact Surfaces - Minor Hot and Cold Water - Minor Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use - Out of Compliance Garbage and Refuse - Out of Compliance.
