San Diego Restaurants Closures & Downgrades This Week (January 16 - 22) Due To County Health Department Inspections

This is the weekly list of San Diego County restaurants and food facilities that have faced temporary closures and downgraded status due to health inspections from January 16 - 22, 2026.

The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality performs thousands of inspections annually to ensure that food establishments adhere to necessary safety standards. When inspectors identify critical violations, they issue closure notices, mandating that businesses resolve the issues before they can reopen, as well as reduce the health grade of some establishments.

Below, we outline the recent week's closures and downgrades and the specific violation list for each as reported by the health inspectors.

CLOSURES:

Flams Pizza (1445 03rd Ave, Suite B, Chula Vista, CA 91911) - Ordered closed upon reinspection on January 20 (originally closed on January 13) for Vermin-Major. 

Queenstown Public House (1557 Columbia St, San Diego, CA 92101) - Ordered closed on January 21 for Holding Temperatures - Minor; Vermin - Major; Food Separated and Protected - Out of Compliance; Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance; Equipment, Utensils, Linens Storage and Use - Out of Compliance; Ventilation and Lighting - Out of Compliance; Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

Barwaaqo Market (6179 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92115) - Ordered closed on January 21 for Vermin - Major and Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance. 

Ahi Sushi and Grill (2872 Fletcher Pkwy, El Cajon, CA 92020) - Ordered closed on January 21 for Proper Handwashing Facilities - Minor; Holding Temperatures - Minor; Food Contact Surfaces - Minor; Vermin - Major; Food Storage - Out of Compliance; Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance; Warewashing Facilities Maintained - Out of Compliance; Equipment, Utensils, Linens Storage and Use - Out of Compliance; Plumbing - Out of Compliance; Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

Paradise Buffet (930 Dennery Rd, San Diego, CA 92154) - Ordered closed on January 21 for Proper Handwashing Facilities - Minor; Holding Temperatures - Major; Food Contact Surfaces - Major; Hot and Cold Water - Minor; Vermin - Major; and Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance. 

Mundo de Semillas 2 (163 Mace St, Chula Vista, CA 91911) - Ordered closed on January 22 for Proper Cooling - Major and Vermin - Major.

Tacos Boys #2 (163 Mace St, Chula Vista, CA 91911) - Ordered closed on January 22 for Food Safety Certification - Minor; Equipment, Utensils, Linens Storage and Use - Out of Compliance; Grade Card, Last Inspection Report, Permit Available, Written Procedures - Out of Compliance; and Identification - Out of Compliance.

Christys Donuts (657 Jamacha Rd, El Cajon, CA 92019) - Ordered closed on January 22 for Vermin - Major; Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance; Warewashing Facilities Maintained - Out of Compliance; Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use - Out of Compliance; Wiping Cloths - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

DOWNGRADES:
