San Diego Restaurants Closures & Downgrades This Week (June 5 - June 11) Due To County Health Department Inspections

This is the weekly list of San Diego County restaurants and food facilities that have faced temporary closures and downgraded status due to health inspections from June 5 - June 11, 2026.



The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality performs thousands of inspections annually to ensure that food establishments adhere to necessary safety standards. When inspectors identify critical violations, they issue closure notices, mandating that businesses resolve the issues before they can reopen, as well as reduce the health grade of some establishments.

Below, we outline the recent week's closures and downgrades as detailed on the SDFoodInfo.org website and the specific violation list for each as reported by the health inspectors.

CLOSURES:

Grandpa Taos Kitchen (1190 N 2nd St, Suite E, El Cajon, CA 92021) - Ordered closed upon reinspection on June 5 for Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance and Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance. 

Bang On 5th (762 5th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101) - Ordered closed upon reinspection on June 5 (originally closed on June 4) for Hot and Cold Water - Major and Vermin - Major. 

Gaja Korean BBQ (2693 Vista Way, Oceanside, CA 92054) - Ordered closed on June 5 for Shellfish Tags - Major; Hot and Cold Water - Minor; Vermin - Major; and Food Storage - Out of Compliance. 

El Tejate Carlsbad Inc (3050 Pio Pico Dr, Carlsbad, CA 92008) - Ordered closed on June 8 for Vermin - Major; Food Separated and Protected - Out of Compliance; Food Storage - Out of Compliance; Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance. 

Elote (2548 Congress St, Suite D, San Diego, CA 92110) - Ordered closed upon reinspection on June 9 for Vermin - Major and Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance.

Pizza Kaiju (1985 National Ave, San Diego, CA 92113) - Ordered closed on June 9 for Proper Handwashing Facilities - Minor; Holding Temperatures - Major; Vermin - Major; Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance; Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

Nutmeg Bakery & Cafe (13771 Danielson St, Suite E, Poway, CA 92064) - Ordered closed upon reinspection on June 9 for Vermin - Major and Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance. 

Vanessas Deli (600 F St, Suite F, Chula Vista, CA 91910) - Ordered closed on June 10 for Food Safety Certification - Minor; Proper Handwashing Facilities - Minor; Holding Temperatures - Major; Vermin - Major; Equipment, Utensils, Linens Storage and Use - Out of Compliance; and Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance.

DOWNGRADES:

Agave Grill and Cafe (303 H St, Suite 107, Chula Vista, CA 91910) -  Downgraded to a B status with an 82 score on June 10 for Proper Handwashing Facilities - Minor; Holding Temperatures - Major; Food Contact Surfaces - Major; Vermin - Major; Warewashing Facilities Maintained - Out of Compliance; Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use - Out of Compliance; Wiping Cloths - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

Broncos Mexican Food (2455 Otay Center Dr, Suite 125, San Diego, CA 92154) - Downgraded to a B grade with an 86 score on June 9 for Holding Temperatures - Major; Food Contact Surfaces - Minor; Vermin - Minor; Food Storage - Out of Compliance; Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance; Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use - Out of Compliance; Equipment, Utensils, Linens Storage and Use - Out of Compliance Ventilation and Lighting - Out of Compliance Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.
