The Patio on Lamont’s upcoming “Fancy Schmancy Picnic” specialty wine pairing dinner will take place on Tuesday, August 5 at 5:30pm.  In celebration of the beautiful summer weather and in continuation of a monthly wine dinner series, wine aficionados and food lovers alike can rejoice with The Patio on Lamont’s wine dinner featuring jazzed-up picnic cuisine. The Patio will serve fun takes on all-American picnic classics, including Surf and Turf Deviled Eggs, Escargot Pasta Salad, a Lobster-Pork Belly BLT, Wild Boar Ribs with grilled watermelon BBQ sauce and a sweet selection of baked fresh pies. Additionally, each course is paired with hand-selected wine ranging from a Sparking Ribolla, to a rich Charbono.

In their continuing efforts to help find a cure for all childhood cancers, the Miller family and friends will host their 9th Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand Grand Stand on Saturday, July 26, from 10am to 6pm, at 3366 Adams Avenue in Normal Heights (The Masonic Lodge Parking Lot). The Miller Family Grand Stand will be held in memory of Stephen Thomas, a San Diego resident who bravely fought rhabdomyosarcoma, a form of childhood cancer, losing his life to the disease at just 15 years of age.

The world’s largest travel site recently released the winners in its Travelers’ Choice awards for amusement parks and waterparks, and out of millions of consumer reviews, SeaWorld San Diego was ranked No. 17 in the U.S. in the TripAdvisor rankings. At about the same time as the TripAdvisor awards were published, PETA continued its anti-SeaWorld campaign with a $24,000 poster at Lindbergh Field to be seen by thousands - a 20-foot graphic of a captive orca with a man (supposed to be SeaWorld’s CEO) in his mouth. The display is allegedly aimed at Comic-Con attendees, hoping the ad will convince convention-goers to avoid SeaWorld in protest of marine-mammal confinement.

The 10th largest craft brewer in the United States, Stone Brewing Co.,  today announced plans to open a production brewery and expansive destination restaurant in Berlin, Germany. With an anticipated opening in late 2015 or early 2016, Stone is making an initial investment of more than $25 million to renovate a historic gasworks complex in Marienpark Berlin, turning the more than two acres (9,290 square meters) of indoor and outdoor space into a world-class operation that will welcome beer enthusiasts from around the globe. Stone will be the first American craft brewer to independently own and operate a brewery in Europe. Stone Brewing Co. – Berlin will encompass three components: a brewery and packaging hall, a Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens restaurant and a Stone Company Store.

San Diego To Get Its Own Seafood Market | Tuna Harbor Dockside Market to Offer Fresh Catch at Tuna Harbor Pier Every Saturday Starting August 2

In the spirit of Seattle's Pike Place and San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf, San Diego has finalized plans to establish it's own weekly, outdoor fisherman's market. Tuna Harbor Dockside Market will open for business on Tuna Harbor Pier (between USS Midway and Seaport Village) beginning on Saturday, August 2 from 8am to 1pm. There, fishermen will sell fresh caught seasonal fish at the first local public fish market in decades in what was once considered one of the biggest fishing cities in the world.
