San Diego Bayfair is home to some of the fastest, most powerful boats in the world. It’s also home to one of the slowest and strangest boats in the world. On Saturday, September 13, Ripley's Believe It or Not! will hit the water at Bayfair with an unbelievable, one-of-a-kind boat – a floating Ferrari. Only this Ferrari is really a boat and made completely of wood. It’s a life-size replica of a Ferrari F50, handmade by a craftsman in Italy. This will be its first voyage in the U.S.

Puesto Partners with Tuna Harbor Pier Downtown Fish Market to Create Special Saturday 'Mercado' Fish Taco

Puesto, the modern Mexican restaurant located at The Headquarters, has partnered with its fishermen neighbors at the new Tuna Harbor Pier Downtown Fish Market to create a limited quantity, special Mercado Fish Taco served only on Saturdays featuring the catch straight from the fishermen's boats. The partnership launched last week with a delicious yellowfin tuna taco. Puesto's executive chef, Luisteen Gonzalez works directly with the fishermen to learn what types of fish will be brought in to sell and requests 20-30 pounds in order to create these special fish tacos, often creating new toppings and fresh salsas based on the type of fish.

Sugar & Scribe Executive Chef Maeve Rochford and her partner, local attorney and restaurateur Patrick Daniels, are expanding their award-winning, Irish bakery, taking over the former Zenbu space in La Jolla for an anticipated opening of this October 2014. In 2010, Maeve Rochford founded Sugar & Scribe Bakery in Pacific Beach to share the greatest recipes of the Emerald Isle. Sugar & Scribe Bakery and Fine Foods La Jolla will be a full-service bakery, fine foods emporium and gourmet-to-go all-in-one. The P.B. location will stay open but it will no longer serve food - desserts and orders only.

Displaced Donovan Prime Steakhouse Takes Over the Steakhouse at Azul Location in La Jolla

After nearly two decades in business, The Brigantine Group's Steakhouse at Azul has closed for good, with the seaside location being sold to Donovan's for a revival of Donovan's Prime Steakhouse La Jolla, which was recently displaced from its UTC location. Azul posted the news on its website today. No word yet on when Donovan's will move into the prime space at 1250 Prospect St.

The latest unconfirmed rumor sourced from social media is that the former site of Bella Roma Pizza and Restaurant, located at 5737 La Jolla Blvd. in Bird Rock/La Jolla, will soon be the location of Wheat & Water, which describes itself on its Facebook Page as "Stylishly urban design meets seaside neighborhood vibe...Wood-fired pizza + charcuterie + #CraftBeer." We also see on its Instagram that it is planning quite the elaborate sour beer collection.

Center for Community Solutions (CCS) will host the 10th Annual Chef Showdown on Thursday, September 18, from 6-9pm at an exciting new venue - the San Diego Harley Davidson on Morena Boulevard. The annual fundraising event kicks off Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which is held in October throughout the country. This one-of-a-kind culinary event will benefit the programs and services of CCS, a San Diego nonprofit that provides advocacy, legal support, healing and prevention services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and elder abuse. In addition to offering tastes from some of the area's best eateries, the event highlights San Diego top chefs participating in an “Iron Chef” style competition where two teams of chefs and mixologists will compete using a secret ingredient and their dishes must pass muster in front of 8 judges.
