Second Location Of Burger Sensation The Balboa Bar & Grill Heading Into Chula Vista

July 27, 2017

The owner of popular San Diego burger and cocktail destination The Balboa Bar & Grill took to Facebook to announce that a lease has been signed for a large space on Third Avenue in Chula Vista for a second location.

Opened by former line cook and Bonita-native Tom Logsdon in early 2015, who was previously operating underground burger-centric Doods Food in the bar that was last located at 1863 5th Avenue in The Balboa's Banker Hill space, The Balboa quickly became known as one of the top burger spots in America's Finest City.

"I'm very excited to be bringing The Balboa to the community I grew up in," said Logson. "There are great things going on in Chula Vista and I'm proud to be part of that."

Heading into the approximately 4,000 square-foot space at 290 Third Avenue that previously housed a deli and beauty salon in a bustling section of downtown Chula Vista, The Balboa South will start with a beer & wine license, aiming to get a full liquor license quickly after opening so that it can offer its lineup of craft cocktails. The menu will be nearly identical to the original location, centered around perfectly cooked burgers and fries, with additional items possibly to be added after the business is up and running. The Balboa South is anticipated to open by year's end.
