Carlsbad's Pisco Rotisserie & Cevicheria To Rebrand Into Toast Gastrobrunch

December 31, 2018

After only a year in business, the Carlsbad location of Pisco Rotisserie & Cevicheria will rebrand into a brunch-focused restaurant called Toast Gastrobrunch, set to debut in early 2019.

After debuting the flagship location within Liberty Station in July 2017, Sami Ladeki of Sammy's Woodfired Pizza and famed Peruvian Chef Emmanual Piqueras opened a second outpost of Pisco Rotisserie & Cevicheria in San Diego's North County.  The Liberty Station location remains in business, although rumor has it that it will also be rebranded or sold off in the near future, especially in light of the fact that Chef Piqueras is no longer involved with the restaurant.

Set to open in late January 2019, Toast Gastrobrunch will serve breakfast and lunch fare paired with all-day libations.  Hungarian-born Executive Chef/Partner Alfred “Alfie” Szeprethy, who has risen from a young prep cook to his current role as Sammy’s Executive Corporate Chef, will run the kitchen at Toast.

Diners can expect a range of eclectic dishes from smoked brisket hash to pistachio shredded toast made with filo dough with ricotta and mozzarella filling soaked in sweet orange blossom sauce. Other highlights include the signature Eggs in Purgatory - a sourdough bread bowl cradling poached eggs in a spicy shashuska sauce, mushrooms, bacon, feta, scallions and mint - along with a variety of "Toasts" and breakfast salads.

"Toast will offer a wide selection of interesting flavor combinations to start everyone’s day off right," said CHef Szeprethy. "We look forward to bringing the Carlsbad community and its guests together at our exciting new breakfast and lunch destination."

For those seeking a kickstart to their day, Toast will showcase a menu brimming with breakfast cocktails, featuring Flaming Coffee, a rich intermingling of coffee, Irish whiskey, sugar and fire, and their decadent Boozey Start, a combination of coffee, brandy, Grand Marnier and Kahlua topped off with whipped cream and an orange peel. A selection of Bloody Marys will also be available along with Sangrias, Bubblys, Micheladas and original cocktails including the Lavender Lady - a lavender cordial made with lime juice, champagne and lavender bitters.

Toast will be located at 5970 Avenida Encinas in San Diego's North County community of Carlsbad. For more information, visit toastgastrobrunch.com.
