Fox Restaurant Concepts To Bring The Henry All-Day Bar & Restaurant To Coronado

March 15, 2019

From Fox Restaurant Concepts - the Arizona-based hospitality company behind such San Diego eateries as True Food Kitchen, Flower Child, Blanco Tacos & Tequila, and North Italia - The Henry all day restaurant and bar is coming to Coronado, moving into the space that housed Costa Azul for two decades.

Sam Fox has owned more than 100 restaurants since dropping out of the University of Arizona when he was 20 years-old. The founder of Fox Restaurant Concepts, Sam Fox is an eleven-time James Beard Award nominee for Restaurateur of the Year, and a New York Times best-selling cookbook author. He was also recently named one of the 50 most influential people in the restaurant industry by Nation’s Restaurant News for the second consecutive year, is the 2014 recipient of the Richard Melman Innovator of the Year Award by Restaurant Hospitality magazine, and the 2015 recipient of University of Arizona Executive of the Year by Eller College of Management. Since launching in 1998, Sam Fox’s Fox Restaurant Concepts has evolved to over a dozen different concepts spanning more than 60 locations, with no plan on slowing down. Fox owns a home in Coronado and splits his time between San Diego and Arizona.

Fox opened his first San Diego-based restaurant, True Food Kitchen at Fashion Valley Mall, in summer 2012, before selling the concept in 2017 to an investor group that includes Oprah Winfrey as a member. Fox Restaurant Concepts also opened Flower Child in Del Mar in late 2016, Blanco Tacos + Tequila in Fashion Valley Mall in mid-2018, and has two locations of North Italia - one that debuted in Fashion Valley Mall last fall and another expected to unveil within Del Mar Heights' incoming One Paseo mixed use development later this spring. Fox's North Italia and Flower Child concepts are in the process of being purchased by Cheesecake Factory Inc..

The Coronado branch of The Henry will be the fourth location of the concept - with the original sited below Fox Restaurant Concepts' corporate office in Phoenix, as well as in West Hollywood and Dallas. Billed as a "the greatest neighborhood restaurant with a post modern meets Ralph Lauren design", The Henry will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a clean coastal vibe with big comfortable booths with a 5,100 square-foot interior, an exhibition kitchen, and an 1,450 square-foot outdoor patio with a fireplace that will seat approximately 50 people. The menu will span from fresh baked pastries and coffee drinks in the morning, to salads and sandwiches for lunch, specialty entrees during evening hours, and a weekend brunch menu where Bloody Mary and Mimosa cocktails will be served via rolling card. The Coronado location will have a heavier seafood-focus than other branches due its proximity to the ocean and the availability of fresh fish. The restaurant will also have a full bar with cocktails, beer and wine.

The Henry Coronado is anticipated to unveil at 1031 Orange Avenue as early as mid-June. For more information, visit thehenryrestaurant.com and check out the sample menus below from the West Hollywood location.
