The Patio On 101 Shutters After Less Than A Year In Business

March 28, 2019

Fresh off this week's opening of Himmelberg’s in San Diego's East Village, we have received word that The Patio Group has closed The Patio on 101 in Encinitas, which has been open for only 9 months.

Last year, San Diego's The Patio Group is moved into the 7,000 square-foot space that previously housed the four-concept-one-roof Open House Food + Drink to open The Patio On 101, the company's first restaurant in North County. The restaurant opened in mid-June 2018 with two full bars and a menu of California modern cuisine.

"We decided to focus our efforts on our new Patio Marketplace concept that we are going to roll out nationwide so we are closing or revamping stores that do not fit in that mold, with some exceptions which involve our other brands," explained The Patio Group founder Gina Champio-Cain.

The Patio Group started with the opening Pacific Beach's The Patio on Lamont in 2012 and expanded into Mission Hills with The Patio on Goldfinch in 2014. The company now operates several additional concepts including Fireside, Saska's Steakhouse, Bao Beach, Surf Rider Pizza, Swell Coffee, The Patio Marketplace, and Himmelberg’s, which opened in the East Village on March 25.
