Thorn Brewing Company To Open Mission Hills Tasting Room

June 29, 2019

San Diego's Thorn Brewing has targeted the Mission Hills neighborhood for the company's 3rd area location, anticipated to open next month.

Dan Carrico, Dennis O'Connor, and Eric O'Connor started Thorn St. Brewery at 3176 Thorn Street in North Park in 2012 after previously using the space as an experimental playground for home brewers. In 2017, Thorn Street Brewery took over the industrial warehouse at 1735 National Avenue in the Barrio Logan neighborhood, which previously housed the ambitious San Diego Public Market, and opened a sprawling 21,00 square foot brewhouse. With the expansion from the company's flagship Thorn Street location, ownership changed the brewery's name to Thorn Brewing Company.

The new Thorn Brewing tasting room will soon install in the building adjacent to Jonathan Segal's The Fort in Mission Hills, which houses popular Fort Oak restaurant by Trust Restaurant Group. Expect several taps with Thorn beers available for onsite consumption or takeaway, as well as a merchandise section with branded clothing, glassware, and cans and bottled beer for take away. There will be no food program, but guests will be encouraged to bring in food from nearby restaurants.

The new Thorn Brewing Tasting Room hopes to open by mid-July at 4026 Hawk Street, Unit A, in San Diego's Mission Hills neighborhood. For more information, visit thorn.beer.
