Spoiled Vegans Cafe Bringing Plant-Based Brunch To San Diego's East Village

August 6, 2019

A plant-based eatery is testing the waters in San Diego's East Village. Spoiled Vegans Cafe is currently operating a weekend pop-up with plans for a permanent outpost to open later this year.

From vegan activist Todd Anderson (@turnipvegan) & Samantha Aaron,  Spoiled Vegans Cafe is currently open as a pop-up eatery every weekend from inside Red Hat Coffee in San Diego's East Village, with plans to operate full time in this location in the near future. Creative Creature Brewing is also in the process of setting up a satellite location inside Red Hat.

"Spoiled Vegans Cafe was inspired by our desire to share delicious vegan food with the community, but more so, to fill a gap we have in San Diego," commented Spoiled Vegan co-founder Todd Anderson. "Breakfast/Brunch options for vegan/plant-based members of the community are lacking....especially in East Village. When we want to go out for breakfast and the only options are oatmeal or a bowl of fruit, we end up just eating at home or waiting to go out for a different meal. We hope to change that. We really wanted to create a traditional breakfast that non-vegans and vegans would enjoy."

Spoiled Vegans offers a menu of 100% plant-based breakfast and brunch items, including omelets, waffles, waffle dogs, breakfast scrambles, breakfast tacos, waffle sandwiches and more. As far as drinks, Red Hat serves kombucha, coffee, cold brew, craft soda, and water. Once the Creative Creatures opens, Spoiled Vegans management hopes to expand their menu and hours to accommodate an evening crowd.

Spoiled Vegan Cafe currently operates at 440 16th Street inside Red Hat Coffee on Saturday and Sunday from 8am-2pm. For more information, visit spoiledveganscafe.com.
