Grand Ole BBQ Launches Weekend Breakfast & Catering Menu With North Park Location Set To Reopen By Thanksgiving Weekend

October 8, 2019

A San Diego favorite for slow-smoked Texas-style barbecue, Grand Ole BBQ announced this week the launch of a mobile catering business and a new weekend breakfast menu at their Flinn Springs branch. We also received word that the original North Park restaurant is anticipated to reopen by Thanksgiving with at least 20 taps devoted to area favorites, as well as a new menu featuring the addition of burgers, chili, nachos, vegan options and other hearty delights.

Starting this weekend and every Saturday & Sunday thereafter, Grand Ole BBQ Flinn Springs will be serving a full breakfast menu from 9-11:30am, featuring dishes like brisket & eggs with breakfast potatoes and toast, pulled pork pancakes, an El Borracho Loco Moco, brisket hash with eggs, chili verde chilaquiles with eggs, and Austin City Limits brisket or pulled pork tacos. The company also announced that it obtained a new smoker allowing them to do more catering events, as well as pick up orders and delivery. Contact the catering department for details.

Founded by San Diego native Andy Harris, a longtime pitmaster who learned his trade spending summers in Texas, Grand Ole BBQ was established with the opening of a quaint al-fresco eatery on the outskirts of North Park in fall 2015. With the original outpost lining up hungry patrons around the block since its opening, the Central Texas-style barbecue hut expanded to San Diego's remote East County area of Flinn Springs earlier this year with the help of Social Syndicate restaurant developement group, known for such projects as Bootlegger, Resident Brewing, Wonderland, The Rabbit Hole, OB Surf Lodge, The Local Downtown & Pacific Beach and incoming La Doña in Ocean Beach. Not long after opening the 15,000 square foot Flinn Springs bar & restaurant, Harris closed his North Park location for a remodel.

Harris has confirmed that he is "hopening" to reopen the North Park location by Thanksgiving weekend. The restaurant will boast some interior and exterior alterations, as well as an expanded menu similar to Flinn Springs and full taplist. For more information, visit grandolebbq.com.
