Tamarindo Latin Kitchen Unveils In San Diego's Del Mar Neighborhood

March 19, 2021

After shuttering the original North Park location last spring, Tamarindo Latin Kitchen & Bar has unveiled its sprawling 4,000 square foot bar & restaurant on the base floor of Del Mar Plaza.

Tamarindo Latin Kitchen was founded by Moose Restaurant Group, which currently owns and operates Fred Mexican Cafe locations in San Diego's Old Town, Huntington Beach, Kihei Hawaii, and two Moose’s Pub & Cafés in Hawaii. Moose Restaurant Group was founded in 1980 with the opening of Moose McGillicuddy’s in Waikiki. The company is currently led by president Lee DeShong. The original Tamarindo Latin Kitchen + Bar opened in summer 2017 within the 2,500 square-foot former Claire de Lune Coffee Lounge space in the heart of San Diego's North Park community. The full service bar and restaurant became a neighborhood hotspot due to its expansive Latin-fusion menu and an agave-heavy bar program, but the eatery was closed last May as the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in sweeping safety measures.

Nearly 2 years in the making, the Del Mar location of Tamarindo Latin Kitchen & Bar has opened at the base of Del Mar Plaza. The restaurant has an expansive covered outdoor patio and a large interior dining room and bar. The restaurant's menu offers a variety of classic Mexican dishes like rolled tacos, quesadillas, carne asada, tacos, salads, soups and sandwiches, as well as more creative signature offerings like carne asada yucca fies, a seafood-filled molcajete, and Oaxacan fig chicken mole. There is also a full bar with a variety of margaritas, tequila, mezcal, and some wine and beer.

Tamarindo Del Mar is currently open from 4-10pm daily at 1555 Camino Del Mar, Suites 116-117, in San Diego's North County community of Del Mar. For more information, visit tamarindodelmar.com and check out the menu below.
