Grammy award winning hip hop artist DJ Khaled is the latest celebrity to launch a delivery-only, virtual restaurant in San Diego.
San Diego is one of approximately 30 cities where DJ Khaled has launched his delivery-only chicken wing venture Another Wing. For the new ghost kitchen, Khaled is collaborating with Reef Technology, a parking facility company turned virtual restaurant leader that facilitates brand expansion for companies like David Chang’s Fuku, Wendy’s, TGIFridays and 800 Degrees Pizza. Earlier this month, Another Wing began serving internationally across three continents, in five countries, and within 18 states with over 150 locations, claiming to be the first restaurant concept to ever launch on three continents at the same time.
Another Wing's menu features bone-in and boneless wings in seven signature flavors including Un Un Un Believable Buffalo, Don't Quit Nashville Hot, You Loyal! Lemon Pepper, Honey! Honey! Hot Honey Siracha, and their signature They Don't Want You To Win TRUFFALO, made with a combination of black truffles, parmesan, and buffalo sauce. Khaled fans can complement their wings with sides like Spicy Togerashi Fries, Jalapeno Cheese Fries, Truffle Parm Fries, Onion Rings, or finish with indulgent desserts like Chocolate Chip Cookies.
Virtual, online-only "ghost kitchens" are a growing business trend as diners more frequently choose to have meals delivered rather than eating at restaurants. The eateries usually operate solely via online delivery apps like Postmates, UberEats, Doordash and GrubHub. Many celebrity-backed, delivery-exclusive ghost kitchen concepts now operate in San Diego, including FlavorTown Kitchen by Guy Fieri, MrBeast Burger, and George Lopez Tacos, to name a few. There are also concepts like CloudKitchens' Barrio Food Hub - a 10,000 square-foot kitchen-filled warehouse founded by the former CEO of Uber. There is also a second CloudKitchens location named Aztec Food Hub opening soon in San Diego's College Area. Reef Technologies also has plans to launch a ghost kitchen in the heart of San Diego's La Jolla Village.
