From Team Behind Puesto, Marisi Italian Finally Set To Unveil In San Diego's La Jolla On August 31

August 21, 2022

From the team behind Puesto, Marisi Italian will unveil on August 31 in the space that last housed Whisknladle in San Diego's La Jolla.

San Diegans Eric and Alan Adler, along with their cousin Isi Lombrozo, launched the first Puesto Mexican Artisan Kitchen & Bar on Wall Street in La Jolla in 2012. The restaurant now has seven locations, including a 9,000-square-foot bar & eatery that opened in Silicon Valley in 2018, a San Diego location sited at The Headquarters at Seaport Village and a huge 10,000 square-foot brewery and restaurant that opened at the former Gordon Biersch in Mission Valley in July 2020. In late summer 2020, the Adlers took over the space near their original Puesto location in La Jolla that housed Whisknladle for 12 years for the opening of a new Italian restaurant concept named Marisi.

An ambigram of the owners' grandparents names, Isidoro and Marila, Marisi Italiano will offer a seasonal-changing menu designed by Executive Chef Chad Huff, who previously worked at Providence in Hollywood, Felix Trattoria in Venice, and Broad Street Oyster Co. in Malibu. Expect a focus on Italian hearth cooking, featuring handmade pasta, wood-fired entrees, classic cocktails and fine wine. Highlights from the launch menu include American Wagyu beef carpaccio with pine nuts, scallions and horeseradish; handmade pappardelle with duck ragu Genovese, Tehachapi Heritage Grain rye and preserved lemon; and sixty day dry-aged American Wagyu beef with peppercorns and beef jus.

Marisi grand opens on Wednesday, August 31, at 1044 Wall Street in San Diego's La Jolla. For more information and to make reservations, visit marisilajolla.com.
