The hospitality company behind San Diego's Michelin-recognized Cucina Urbana and Cucina Sorella has opened a new, al fresco bar & restaurant at the recently renovated Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in La Jolla.
Over the past 27 years, Tracy Borkum's Urban Kitchen Group - which operates Cucina Urbana in Bankers Hill, Cucina Sorella in Kensington, Artifact at Mingei, Gold Finch Modern Jewish Deli in Torrey Pines, and Cucina Enoteca locations in Del Mar, Irvine, and Newport Beach - has earned a reputation as a leader in the Southern California hospitality industry. Last year, Urban Kitchen Group acquired Waters Fine Foods Cafe in Bay Park, which is being used as a new catering and commissary kitchen. After a year in development, Tracy Borkum and Chef Partner Tim Kolanko have finally opened their market-inspired and modern coastal cooking restaurant The Kitchen at the newly renovated Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.
After a $105 million renovation, the upgraded Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego reopened last spring. The expansive coastal space showcases some of the region's most extraordinary views of the Pacific Ocean and is home to a world-class contemporary art collection. Following a major four-year renovation by Selldorf Architects, the La Jolla location features expanded galleries, an art park and sculpture garden as well as several spaces available to rent for special occasions.
The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego is located at 700 Prospect Street in La Jolla. For more information, visit mcasd.org.
