San Diego Restaurants Closures & Downgrades This Week (August 28 - September 3) Due To County Health Department Inspections

This is the weekly list of San Diego County restaurants and food facilities that have faced temporary closures and downgraded status due to health inspections from August 28 - September 3, 2026. 

The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality performs thousands of inspections annually to ensure that food establishments adhere to necessary safety standards. When inspectors identify critical violations, they issue closure notices, mandating that businesses resolve the issues before they can reopen, as well as reduce the health grade of some establishments.

Below, we outline the recent week's closures and downgrades as detailed on the SDFoodInfo.org website and the specific violation list for each as reported by the health inspectors.

CLOSURES:

Bullpen Tavern (706 Highway 75, Imperial Beach, CA 91932) - Ordered closed upon reinspection on August 29 (originally closed on August 27) for Vermin - Major. 

The Living Room Coffeehouse (5900 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92115) - Ordered closed upon reinspection on August 31 for Vermin - Major and Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance. 

Pizza Guys #212 (501 W Felicita Ave 103, Escondido, CA 92025) - Ordered closed on September 1 for Food Contact Surfaces - Major and Vermin - Major.

IHOP San Diego 828 Inc (8440 Mira Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92126) - Ordered closed on September 1 for Holding Temperatures - Minor; Vermin - Major; Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use - Out of Compliance; and Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance. 

Ritos Mexican Food (2506 S Santa Fe Ave, Suite # B6, Vista, CA 92083) - Ordered closed on September 1 for Holding Temperatures - Major; Storage of Toxic Substances - Out of Compliance; Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use - Out of Compliance; Ventilation and Lighting - Out of Compliance; and Impoundment - Out of Compliance.

The Corner Drafthouse (495 Laurel St, San Diego, CA 92101) - Ordered closed on September 1 for Vermin - Major; Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance; Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance; and Permit - Out of Compliance. 

Poki Poki - Boba and Brewski (201 Oak Ave, Unit # D, Carlsbad, CA 92008) - Ordered closed on September 2 for Holding Temperatures - Minor; Consumer Advisory - Minor; Vermin - Major; Thawing Methods - Out of Compliance; Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

DOWNGRADES:
