Chula Vista's annual HarborFest returns to Bayside Park at the Chula Vista Marina on Saturday, August 22, from 10am to 6pm, for a summer celebration of music, food, spirits and community. This free, family-friendly festival includes more entertainment than ever this year, including music and dancing on three stages, a taco and spirit competition, food trucks, a classic and exotic automobile showcase, art exhibitions, a Discovery Zone for the kids and so much more. On August 11, as part of efforts to promote development to enhance San Diego’s position as a world-class destination, the Board of Port Commissioners will consider redevelopment proposals for a new tenant for the Anthony's Fish Grotto restaurant space on San Diego’s North Embarcadero. As of now, the two main contenders for the space are Sunroad Enterprises and The Brigantine Group, both who have submitted proposals that include numerous businesses. Anthony's Fish Grotto is not even in the running, although they also submitted a proposal.

Saska's Steak and Seafood has been purchased by lifelong patron and the founder of The Patio Restaurant Group (The Patio on Lamont, The Patio on Goldfinch, The Patio in Left Field at Petco Park and the upcoming Fireside by the Patio)  Gina Champion-Cain, for an undisclosed amount in a handshake deal that should close by weeks end, reports the San Diego Union Tribune. At 64 years old, Saska's was one of San Diego’s oldest family-run restaurants, but Champion-Cain intends to keep it pretty much as-in, planning on making only small changes.

K Sandwiches Closed After Fire

An apparent oven fire broke out at K Sandwiches, the popular Vietnamese banh mi deli and market on 7604 Linda Vista Road in the Clairemont neighborhood of San Diego, shortly before 9pm on the evening of Tuesday, August 4, causing a reported $1.5 million in damages. In a tweet about the incident, the San Diego Fire Department requested that all drones cease flying around the vicinity of the restaurant because they were interfering with fire operations.

Table No. 10 Packs Up Shop In San Diego's East Village

Table No. 10 is no more. Following dinner service on Sunday, August 2, the restaurant has closed for business, open for only a little more than a year. Table No. 10 was a joint venture for executive chef Jason Gethin and Cooper McLaughlin, who previously operated burger eatery, The Corner, at the space. Rumor has it that the two owners could not come to agreements on several matters, so they closed their business, possibly readying the business/restaurant for sale.

The Fish Market In Downtown San Diego To Reopen On August 3 | Top Of Market Still Under Renovation After Fire

San Diego waterfront restaurants The Fish Market and it's second story, upscale eatery Top of the Market have been closed since May 26 when over $1 million in damage was caused by a grease fire that took place during opening hours. After undergoing a partial remodel, The Fish Market will reopen for service on Monday, August 3. Top of the Market is anticipated to open this fall, as the restaurant is still recovering from the damage and using the tragedy to modernize its space.
