Celebrity Chef Hugh Acheson Joins East Village's Incoming Punch Bowl Social As Culinary Partner

We recently broke the news that award-winning, Denver-based restaurant group Punch Bowl Social has targeted San Diego's East Village for the launch of their first Southern California location. Founded by entrepreneur Robert Thompson, the restaurant group has also announced that it has appointed southern culinary sensation and celebrity chef Hugh Acheson to serve as the burgeoning company's culinary partner. In this newly created role, Acheson will quarterback the ongoing culinary direction of the growing restaurant concept.

Chef Daniel Barron To Lead Kitchen At Hillcrest's Incoming Bull & Grain

We recently announced that an "American style bar and grill", Bull & Grain, was in the process of opening at 1263 University Avenue in Hillcrest in the space that most recently housed Tabletop Commons. Set to unveil this coming September after a total overhaul, the restaurant has announced that Daniel Barron will lead the kitchen as Executive Chef. A longtime San Diego chef, Barron most recently launched Blush Ice Bar before leaving America's Finest City for a short stint as the Executive Chef at Mister Lyons in Palm Springs.

Urge Gastropub To Open Huge Restaurant, Brewhouse & Gaming Destination In San Marcos

The team behind Urge Gastropub and Mason Aleworks will open a gigantic dining, drinking and gaming destination in San Marcos in 2017. Urge Gastropub & Common House will transform a 21,000 square foot former-warehouse in the new North City urban oasis and offer seating for nearly 500, as well as bowling, bocce, games, a 15 barrel in-house brewery and a 5,000 square foot outdoor patio and beer garden.

The Red Sails Inn, which has been serving up fresh-catch seafood in San Diego since the 1920s (since 1957 at its current location) will close its doors at 2614 Shelter Island Drive in Point Loma at the end of August. The Brigantine Group will take over the space to open the first location of its new seafood and craft beer concept Ketch Grill & Taps.
