Armando's The Green Flash has been a landmark of Ocean Front Walk in Pacific Beach since 1990 , but the restaurant/bar at 701 Thomas Avenue will soon close its doors to be taken over by the crew behind Cabo Cantina, PB Cantina and Fiesta Cantina. The Cabo brand's owner Milton Zampelli will reportedly keep the location restaurant-centric rather than his usual 2-for-1 drink special, Mexican-inspired, rowdy "cantina."

On Sunday, March 23, The Headquarters at Seaport District will debut Brian’s Certified Farmers’ Market featuring gourmet items in a setting inspired by the eclectic and bustling European markets.  Every Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. more than 30 vendors will line Harbor Drive stretching from Pacific Highway to the park offering a bountiful array of locally grown and produced delicacies.  Shoppers will stroll among the charming and cheerful stalls displaying an enticing selection of tempting sweets, such as unusual preserves, honeys, and savories, with flavorful olives and nuts, as well as authentic crusty European breads and artisan cheeses, a wide variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables, fresh cut flowers, seafood and wines.   

La Jolla Brewing Company Introduces New Beer Cocktail Menu

“Beer before liquor never sicker” might be the old adage and since nothing rhymes with simultaneously (try to find a word, we dare you), the new beer cocktail trend has yet to merit its own catch phrase. Beer cocktails complement the menu from Executive Chef Matt Ham at the recently opened La Jolla Brewing Company. Head brewer Brett Stampf brews five beers on site and this month, La Jolla Brewing Company turned ‘em into five shiny new beer cocktails with a little help from the Blind Tiger Cocktail Company.

Southern California burger-mastermind, Slater's 50/50 is getting into the March Madness spirit with it's own March Madness Burger Bracket, allowing guests  to vote online for their favorite burgers in an NCAA-style tournament. The bracket features some of Slater's most popular Burgers of the Month from the past, coming out of the "vault" for a limited appearance. Guests will be able to cast their vote for their favorite vintage burger in head-to-head competitions, narrowing down the field to the Elite Eight and ultimately, the Final Four. The Final Four burgers will be featured in each of Slater's six (soon to be seven) SoCal locations throughout May to celebrate National Burger Month. After exploring several ways to honor his memory, Stone decided there was no better way than to brew one of his most recent beer recipes and release it nationally for all to enjoy. Matt’s Burning Rosids Imperial Cherrywood-Smoked Saison is currently available in 22-ounce bottles and on draft in select markets across the U.S. To further pay tribute to Matt’s memory, Stone is donating $100,000 to two non-profit organizations close to Matt’s heart and contributing to The Matt Courtright Memorial Brewing Scholarship, all made possible by proceeds from the sale of his beer.
