Qin West Noodle To Bring Shaanxi Chinese Cuisine To San Diego

February 14, 2021

The 6th Southern California location of Qin West Noodle will open later this year in San Diego's Westfield UTC mall in La Jolla.

Qin West Noodle restaurant was founded by UCLA alumni Liyizhi Kou in 2009. The restaurant was first a typical Americanized Chinese eatery before rebranding into an authentic Chinese noodle house in 2014. Qin West Noodle now has locations in Los Angeles's Chinatown, Westwood, University Park, Arcadia, and Irvine. Qin West Noodle specializes in the cuisine from China's landlocked northwestern region of Shaanxi , which is centered around noodles complimented by meats like pork, beef and mutton, as well as bread and dumplings.

Qin West Noodle will open later this year in the 1,400 square-foot former Jersey Mike's space adja'cent to Veggie Grill within Westfield UTC in La Jolla. Menu highlights from the fast-casual eatery include the roujiamo, or "Mo" for short, a Shaanxi-style sandwich similar to a sloppy joe with pork or spicy beef inside a crispy flatbread. There will also be pork-filled dumplings and 8 noodle dishes like the restaurant's famous Guilin soup - a sweet, sour and spicy broth filled with sliced beef shank, Chinese cabbage, lily flowers, bean-curd, peanuts and pickled green beans.

The addition of Qin West Noodle will make Westfield UTC somewhat of an authentic Chinese food mecca in San Diego. 60-year-old Taiwanese dumpling empire Din Tai Fung already packs the house with lines out the door since October 2018, and China's largest hotpot chain Haidilao also has a location in the works for the outdoor mall.

Qin West Noodle will open as early as this summer at 4353 La Jolla Village Drive inside Westfield UTC mall. For more information, visit qinwestnoodle.com.
