After a busy 2016 that included the opening of Fireside By The Patio, Harvest By The Patio, and Bao Beach, as well as the purchase of Surfrider Pizza in Ocean Beach and the announcement of at least 2 fast-casual eateries dubbed The Patio Express, Gina Champion-Cain's American National Investments corporation is gearing up to launch The Patio Marketplace, a fast-casual cafe that features a collection of offerings from other Patio brands.

A group of San Diego's top first generation Filipino chefs will join forces at Jsix restaurant on January 26 for a 4-course collaboration dinner sponsored by Specialty Produce with each chef making a dish that represents a certain region of the Philippines where their parents are from.

Ponsaty's Sunday brunch features a full buffet that includes such options as eggs Benedict Florentine, sea water poached King crab legs, herb crusted prime ribeye, not to mention an add-on for bottomless mimosas and bloody marys.

Former Ballast Point Founder Jack White & COO Yuseff Cherney, who left the company last summer after selling the brewery portion of the business to Constellation Brands, are rebranding Ballast's spirit division into Cutwater Spirits and will open a 50,000 square-foot distillery, bar and restaurant in San Diego's Miramar neighborhood.

Little Italy's Civico 1845 is collaborating with two Michelin-rated Italian chefs, father and son Antonio and Luca Abbruzzino, on dishes that feature ingredients from Southern Italy to be included on the restaurant's revamped menu. To kick off the partnership, the chefs will travel to San Diego and work with Civico 1845 chefs Alfonso Pisacane and Pietro Gallo to create new dishes that highlight Southern Italy’s finest tastes with an unveiling event to be held on January 18.
