San Diego Restaurants Closures & Downgrades This Week (October 16 - October 22) Due To County Health Department Inspections

A location of San Diego-born pot pie chain, a popular Convoy District yakitori restaurant, a well-known San Diego coffee chain, a couple fast food restaurants, a burger destination, some local sushi spots, and several other restaurants and eateries across San Diego County are among the 18 food establishments ordered temporarily closed or downgraded following health inspections from October 16 through October 22, 2026.

The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality performs thousands of inspections annually to ensure that food establishments adhere to necessary safety standards. When inspectors identify critical violations, they issue closure notices, mandating that businesses resolve the issues before they can reopen, as well as reduce the health grade of some establishments.

JJs Island Grindz Bonita (4154 Bonita Rd, Bonita, CA 91902) - Ordered closed following a routine inspection on October 19 for Proper Handwashing Facilities - Minor; Food Contact Surfaces - Minor; Vermin - Major; Equipment, Utensils, Linens Storage and Use - Out of Compliance; Wiping Cloths - Out of Compliance; Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

Carmelcorn (829 Parkway Plaza, El Cajon, CA 92020) - Ordered closed following a routine inspection on October 20 for Proper Handwashing Facilities - Minor; Hot and Cold Water - Minor; Sewage disposal - Major; and Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance.

La Morena Mariscos (163 Mace St, Chula Vista, CA 91911) - Ordered closed following a routine inspection on October 20 for Handwashing - Major; Holding Temperatures - Major; Shellfish Tags - Major; Hot and Cold Water - Major; Vermin - Minor; Food Storage - Out of Compliance; and Equipment, Utensils, Linens Storage and Use - Out of Compliance.

Maple Tree Coffee LLC (332 Del Mar Ave, Chula Vista, CA 91910-) - Ordered closed following a Status Verification inspection on October 20 for Hot and Cold Water - Minor and Permit - Out of Compliance.

Grange Garden (240 S Cedros Ave, Solana Beach, CA 92075) - Ordered closed following a routine inspection on October 20 for Vermin - Major and Grade Card, Last Inspection Report, Permit Available, Written Procedures - Out of Compliance

Litickers Liquor (4955 Voltaire St, San Diego, CA 92107) - Downgraded to a B grade with an 82 score on October 22 for Food Safety Certification - Minor; Holding Temperatures - Minor; Food in Good Condition, Safe and Unadulterated - Major; Food Contact Surfaces - Minor; Vermin - Major; Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance; Ventilation and Lighting - Out of Compliance; Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance; Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance; and Impoundment - Out of Compliance.

Las Brisas Taqueria (1005 S Main Ave, Fallbrook, CA 92028)  - Downgraded to a B grade with an 80 score on October 22 for Holding Temperatures - Major; Thawing Methods - Out of Compliance; and Food Separated and Protected - Out of Compliance.
