Whistling Duck Tavern is nearly ready to open its doors at the more than 3,000 square foot indoor/outdoor space at 1040 University Avenue within The Hub retail district in San Diego's Hillcrest neighborhood. Set for a soft opening as early as this weekend, the new bar and restaurant is from one of the co-owners of Dumpling Inn & Shanghai Saloon and will offer an Asian-fusion menu centered around housemade noodles, 24 taps of craft beer, and a curated list of wine and sake.

The hospitality group's former 100 Wines space at 1027 University Avenue in Hillcrest will soon become BO-beau Kitchen + Caché, a dual concept that will include a fourth location of CRG's California-French restaurant with a backroom speakeasy and a nextdoor upscale taco shop called Libertad Tacos a la Brasa that will be implanted into the recently-acquired adjacent space.

The former Izakaya Kanpai space at 5430 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard will soon become Okan Diner, a more casual outpost from Daisuke Yamashita and Ken Nakamura who also own nearby Wa Dining Okan in the Convoy District and Robataya Otan in Kearny Mesa. In addition to traditional Japanese dishes, the eatery will specialize in noodles and kettle rice.
