May 1, 2012Sunday, May 13th 2012 is special for two different reasons this year. The first, it’s Mother’s Day of course! The second, is that May 13th marks the last day the Brigantine in Del Mar will be open before their much anticipated remodel gets underway. What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day then having brunch at The Brigantine Del Mar for one last go?! Sounds like an ideal spot if you ask me.
Sustainable and Innovative New Restaurant - Boxd - to Open in Carlsbad
April 30, 2012
A new restaurant in Carlsbad is taking the word "open" very literally. Boxd Hand Crafted Waffle Foods is certainly the first restaurant of its kind in the nation, and it's not because of the waffle sandwiches.

Who Is The "Real" Slomo Of San Diego's Ocean Front Walk
April 27, 2012
In San Diego, CA, most people don't even know the real name of the biggest celebrity in town. The man is known only as Slomo. He is an aged gentleman - maybe in his 50's, early 60's, and he spends his days skating down beach-side Ocean Front Walk doing a form of Tai Chi on roller blades, in slow motion, and to a soundtrack. Usually, he is wearing a bucket hat, blue tanktop, Bermuda shorts, his safety pads, roller blades, and of course his music. The young locals yell out his moniker "Slomo!" as he wistfully glides by blaring music (mostly classical) from his on-person speakers. In a beach town filled with characters, Slomo is the king of them all.

Road Trippin' - Restaurant 1833 | Well Worth the Trip to Monterey
| 1833 from the street |
Strolling the quiet and unassuming side streets of Monterey, one could easily miss the masterpiece of a restaurant that is 1833. With its intriguing antiquity and the vibrancy of a prohibition era fling, Restaurant 1833 certainly lives up to its motto - “Not just a place to dine, but a place to experience…”

My Favorite Happy Hours | Pacific Beach & Mission Beach
April 20, 2012
When I’m not cooking at home or covering an eatery or event, I usually head out only for happy hours or daily specials. I’m a professional deal hunter, and being that I live in Pacific Beach, I try to keep it local as often as possible. Who wants to hang out with a designated driver anyway? No one. Well, not me.
