San Diego Restaurants Closures & Downgrades This Week (October 23 - October 29) Due To County Health Department Inspections

A popular Convoy District yakitori restaurant, a Filipino restaurant inside a mall, a Walmart outpost, an Indian supermarket and restaurant, several sushi spots, and a pair of Alpine eateries are among the 11 San Diego County food establishments ordered temporarily closed following health inspections from October 23 through October 29, 2026.

The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality performs thousands of inspections annually to ensure that food establishments adhere to necessary safety standards. When inspectors identify critical violations, they issue closure notices, mandating that businesses resolve the issues before they can reopen, as well as reduce the health grade of some establishments.

Smoothie Patrol (139 Pawnee St, San Marcos, CA 92078) - Ordered closed on October 23 for Hot and Cold Water - Major. 

Yakyudori (4898 Convoy St, San Diego, CA 92111) - Ordered closed upon reinspection on October 24 (originally closed on October 15) for Vermin - Major. 

Walmart #5075 (3405 Marron Rd, Oceanside, CA 92054) - Ordered closed on October 26 for Hot and Cold Water - Major and Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use - Out of Compliance. 

La Carreta (1347 Tavern Rd, Alpine, CA 91901) - Ordered closed following a site investigation on October 26 for Sewage disposal - Major. 

701 Fifth Avenue LLC dba Theatre Box Building (701 5th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101) - Ordered closed upon reinspection on October 26 for Sewage disposal - Major; Vermin - Major; Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance; Warewashing Facilities Maintained - Out of Compliance; and Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use - Out of Compliance. 

Mediterraneo Italiano Bistro and Bar (1347 Tavern Rd, Suite 34, Alpine, CA 91901) - Ordered closed following a site investigation on October 26 for Sewage disposal - Major. 

Morse High Stadium Concessions (6905 Skyline Dr, San Diego, CA 92114) - Ordered closed upon reinspection on October 26 (originally closed on October 15) for Hot and Cold Water - Major and Vermin - Major. 

El Cata Mariscos and Sushi (8099 Broadway, Lemon Grove, CA 91945) - Ordered closed upon reinspection on October 26 for Vermin - Major. 

Gerrys Grill (3030 Plaza Bonita Rd, Suite 2510, National City, CA 91950) - Ordered closed on October 27 for Proper Handwashing Facilities - Minor; Holding Temperatures - Minor; and Food Storage - Out of Compliance. 

PKI Sushi (16769 Bernardo Center Dr, Suite K11, San Diego, CA 92128) - Ordered closed upon reinspection on October 27 for Vermin - Major and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance. 

Namaste Plaza Super Market & 8 Elements Indian Cuisine (9154 Mira Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92126) - Ordered closed upon reinspection on October 28 for Vermin - Major and Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance.
