We rooted for Chef Amanda Baumgarten as she competed for the Top Chef title on the 7th Season of Bravo's popular culinary competition, so when the news broke that she would be running the kitchen at fellow Top Chef Brian Malarkey's 5th installment of his famed fabric-named franchise of eateries, we were extremely exuberant and expectatious.  No longer in its 'newby' phase, Herringbone is now a La Jolla hotspot, and rightfully so as the restaurant is exceptionally designed to appeal to those seeking upscale, casual, or anywhere in between, and with the young and energetic Chef Amanda in charge of the output, Herringbone delivers in bringing the 'hip' to La Jolla.

5th Annual Brazilian Day San Diego | Sunday, September 9th

The Capoeira Institute, a non-profit organization that supports Brazilian Culture, is proud to announce that the Fifth Annual Brazilian Day San Diego will take place on Sunday September 9th from 11 am – 7 pm on Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach between Everts St. and Mission Blvd.  Advertised as "the Largest Brazilian Festival on the West Coast," the Brazilian Day Festival brings the spirit of Brazil to the heart of San Diego and offers participants the best of Brazilian food, dance, music, and culture.  In addition to a food court and over 150 vendors, this year’s event features dance and musical performances from local artists, as well as popular entertainers directly from Brazil and from various cities around the U.S.

Today we came across one of the most amazing and beautiful video tours of San Diego that we've ever seen.  Titled "America's Finest Timelapse," the video was filmed and produced by Kevin Andrew Falk of XOXO Wedding Studio, a photography and cinematography company based in San Diego.  The video is set to the song "Make a Noise" by Katie Herzig.

Join celebrated Chef Adam Cho of Katsuya by S+ARCK, for a sumptuous culinary exploration of sushi and sake pairings at “The Art of Sushi & Sake,” the latest Andaz Salon event. The event will be held on Tuesday, September 18 at 6 pm, beginning with sake tasting in the Katsuya by S+ARCK atrium.  Guests will then move upstairs to the Ivy Rooftop at Andaz San Diego for an interactive lesson in the art of sushi making followed by another paired tasting.

This will create a pickup counter for Puesto’s new online and call-ahead order system, a separate entrance from the main dining area, and additional kitchen space. The 4th Annual San Diego Spirits Festival took over Downtown's Broadway Pier and showcased all things booze to a packed house of tipsy participants.  Live music, bartender showdowns, chef demonstrations, food trucks, photo ops, and plenty of spirit samples were offered on two beautiful San Diego days.  We drank, we saw, we missed Ron Jeremy!  Epic fail on our part, but there's always next year!
