Since opening its first U.S. location earlier this year in San Diego's Kearny Mesa neighborhood, Menya Ultra has been drawing throngs of hungry patrons who line up in droves to sample what culinary personality Andrew Zimmern has dubbed the best ramen in the United States. The queue may soon reduce, as Menya Ultra will be opening a second San Diego outpost in 2018.

Gelato Paradiso Opening Coronado Location

Gelato Paradiso, which first emerged in Orange County almost two decades ago, is opening its fourth overall location, and its second location in San Diego County in mid-December on Coronado Island. The concept is based on small batches of gelato and sorbetto handcrafted daily in-house, using imported Italian ingredients and locally sourced produce.

K Sandwiches Announces January Reopening

It's been more than 2 years since a devastating kitchen fire at K Sandwiches resulted in a total top-to-bottom demolition and rebuild of the popular San Diego Vietnamese market and deli, but the company took to Facebook today to announce that they will triumphantly reopen, refreshed and ready for a swarm of hungry patrons this coming January 2018.

Everyone is looking for the "best" nowadays. You'll see "Best of" lists all over the place - best restaurant, best chefs, best neighborhood, best opening, etc., superlative, etc., especially as the end of the year approaches. We don't blame people for wanting to maximize enjoyment by seeking out quality, but when it comes to "the best" of any particular food-related category, it's really a subjective determination with each person having their own unique rhyme and reason. Although we'll occasionally discuss our personal favorites, we're not keen on the "Best of" movement that is taking the Internet by storm. Here are our top 5 reasons for not jumping on the "Best of" bandwagon.
