After 23 years in business on San Diego's bustling 5th Avenue in the Gaslamp, Taka Sushi has been acquired by the team behind South Bay-born Karina's Mexican Seafood, and the popular Japanese restaurant will be reopening this week with plans on redesigning the space in the coming months.

Spitfire Tacos will feature unique inauthentic taco options like pastrami and Kalbi pork belly while Head Lettuce will offer healthy salads and bowls. Both restaurants will be completely cash-free, instead utilizing order kiosks for credit and debit purchases.

Trust Restaurant Group No Longer Involved In Operations At University Heights' Small Bar
This past February, news broke that University Heights' decade-old Small Bar was partnering with San Diego's rapidly expanding Trust Restaurant Group to completely overhaul the bar and restaurant, including revising the food menu, adding a list of craft cocktail, and renovating the interior and exterior of the space. After only 8 months together, the partnership has ended.

After launching in Chula Vista in early 2017, Grind House opened a second San Diego location in April of this year in Barrio Logan, offering an all-day menu of coffee, craft beer, wine, and food. Less than 6 months since opening, the owners of Grind House have decided to permanently shutter the Barrio Logan location.

A Chippendales-style gay dive bar from Dallas, Texas is opening a tamed-down, all-are-welcome location in San Diego's Hillcrest neighborhood, taking over the space last occupied by Brew Project (and short lived Project Bar). The World Famous Tin Room bar and restaurant is opening an outpost in America's Finest City by year's end.
