Ramen sensation Menya Ultra, which opened its first U.S. branch in San Diego's Kearny Mesa neighborhood last year and was subsequently dubbed "best ramen in the U.S." by culinary personality Andrew Zimmern, will unveil its second area outpost next week in a 2,000 square-foot space within Mira Mesa Shopping Center.

The San Diego Tourism Authority paid Nat Geo $3 million for the television exposure, plus an editorial spread in National Geographic Traveler and a San Diego Travel Guide on the National Geographic website. Earlier this year, San Diego's Cohn Restaurant Group (Coasterra, Corvette Diner, The Prado) purchased the 5,485 square foot, 1950s-era building and adjacent lot that last housed Junk House Gastropub in East Mission Valley and initially used it as a commissary kitchen for the company's 20+ restaurants. The space is now in the process of being transformed into a second incarnation of Coaster Saloon, a Mission Beach mainstay that the Cohn's purchased in summer 2017.
